mon/tue
Yesterday, I woke up to the standard blinding pain. Actually, right before I wake there is no pain and I really feel good. Then the pain slowly rises like the water in a toilet bowl after the dreams have been flushed away. Soon enough, I come to terms with my predicament and make the command decision to stay at home. And stay in bed. And rest. For a bit. Yeah, rolling stone that I am, the moss was assaulting my fortress and I had to get up and do SOMETHING other than fixate on the little pounding daemons in my skull. The Maxalt was kicking in so I could actually look/smell/hear without feeling the urge to vomit. I headed off to the old master suite and spent the last half of the day pulling up the last of the tack-bars, staples and carpet foam. That and breaking down the old drawers that I yanked out of the built in wall unit. Nothing like a little demolition to get the mind off matters you cannot defeat. I also managed to get a first pass of the wood filler put into some of the more expansive cracks on the floor. A previous owner had left the windows open a few too many times and the floor boards are warped now. Bad mo-jo for wood. The filler should help with all the creaking. Hard to sneak up on the Mrs when the floor makes more noise than the old bones.
Tuesday was nuts. Traffic was light, mostly because it was cold as it ever gets here. Twenty degrees is pretty much a signal to the locals that staying in bed for an hour is in order. I did not have that luxury. I had a load of work to catch up on and the production server was having spot outages since Saturday. As brilliance would have it, the development box has a common mount on the production box thus resulting in a mostly useless dev box. Yes, I was not the only sick cog in this great machine. Did I mention I have less than 3 weeks left at the client? No?
