Evil Arts

Today, the Jr Pm was complaining to me about not having success in getting action from DB group on table problem she was embroiled in. Apparently, the DB group created the table from scratch and not from her specifications, ergo, it would not fulfill her needs. To compound this, they were balking at correcting it immediately and took to the age-old tactic of ignoring requests to fix it. Now this table exists in a development space so there should be no need to require the group to be involved, but they maintain an iron grip on the permissions to do anything. She was complaining that the emails were ineffectual and was considering going down and spending a little face-to-face time. This is were my evil powers come in. I'm usually a pretty laid back guy when it comes to other people not doing their jobs. I figure that when it comes down to the wire, you get what you deserve and if you have not conducted yourself with due diligence ... well ... stuff happens. In this case, I mentioned to her that if you want action from these folks, just drop a few names in the CC: list on the next email. Put some high powered people who really don't care all that much but since their name is associated with the request, the recipients will tend to view the request as 'important'. She followed my suggestion and DING, it was done in 5 minutes. Call me Iago.
